Pavlina Morgan

I am a qualified psychoanalytical psychotherapist registered with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) under the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College (CPJAC) and the Association of Group and Individual Psychotherapy (AGIP; professional member).

I am currently working as a psychotherapist in an NHS secondary mental health service, and in private practice.

My practice is primarily informed by psychoanalytical thought (object relations), but I also draw on existential philosophy and analytical (Jungian) thinking.

I work relationally, meaning that central to my practice is the belief that the therapeutic relationship plays a key role in any therapeutical change. I aim to provide a space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences in a non-directive, non-judgemental way and at your own pace.

I have experience working with a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, depression, obsessive behaviours, sexual issues, panic attacks, PTSD, and relationship troubles, as well as confidence issues, a lack of purpose or identity, and anger problems.

My areas or specialism

Historical sexual abuse. I worked for 2 years as an honorary psychotherapist at the Oxleas women’s centre, a clinic specializing in work with the survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Trauma. Including complex and cumulative trauma. I offer EMDR where appropriate. I currently offer EMDR sessions at a reduced rate as I am undergoing EMDR training.

I work with people who struggle with infertility, who are or were on an IVF journey, and people who experienced child loss at any point of their motherhood journey (from conception).

Cultural issues. I work in an open and empathetic way with people of various cultural backgrounds and those who may struggle with integration and transitions.

Spirituality and psychoanalysis. I work in an open and non-pathologizing way with people of any religion (spirituality) or none.

Before I trained as a psychotherapist, I worked as a translator in the fields of theology, philosophy, and literature. I have also worked in care, including as a volunteer for a hospice, supporting both families and patients. I have also worked for a refugee and migrant charity here in Kent.

Languages: English, Czech.

I work both in person and online.

Cost

My fee is between £70 and £75. I have a limited number of low-cost spaces available for people on low incomes.
